Accessibility, sensory needs, and your comfort

We are learning and growing as a church that welcomes everybody. If you want to attend in-person church, and there are particular things your mind or body need to feel comfortable and safe, please read on – and reach out if you don’t find an answer here, or are looking for something else.

  • The main building is wheelchair accessible, with pushbutton entry (when the building is unlocked) and accessible restrooms. Our worship space (nave) is on the main floor. If you need help finding a good spot for a wheelchair, ask an usher (or pretty much anybody) for help. We also have an elevator in case you need to visit the loft for music ministry, or the lower level for Sunday school or to reach the offices.
  • There is amplified sound, and the building is fitted with a loop system that will send sound directly to some hearing aids.
  • Knowing that our community worship (especially at 10AM) is sometimes loud for those who find noise difficult to process, we have several sets of ear protection headphones available. You’re also certainly welcome to bring and use whatever helps you manage noisy environments.
  • There will never be flickering or strobing lights at a service.
  • Fidget toys are always available for use in worship or in meetings and gatherings. People are also welcome to bring things that keep their hands busy, like knitting, needlepoint, Rubik’s cube, sketchpad, etc.
  • People are free to move around as they wish during our services.
  • You don’t have to dress a particular way. Please wear clothes that make you feel comfortable.
  • Gluten Free wafers are always available at Eucharists.
  • The wine we use for Communion/Eucharist is alcoholic. If that’s a challenge for you, it is perfectly fine to just receive the bread; that counts as full participation in the Eucharist. We are also open to adding a non-alcoholic wine option if people would like it; talk with Rev. Miranda to explore this.
